Cover Girl Kate Moss

Katherine Moss, better known as Kate Moss, has become one of the most recognized and highest paid supermodels of the '90s. She was born in Croydon, Surrey, England, on January 16, 1974. A child of the swinging 70s, Kate's entry into the fashion industry started with a chance encounter in 1988, when she and her family were in JFK Airport on their way back from a vacation in the Bahamas. The then 14-year-old Kate caught the eye of Sarah Ducas of Storm Agency, who approached her. This chance encounter was the launching pad of Kate's hugely successful career.

She Is Fur PETA

She belongs to that coterie of super models who are famous, rich and extremely successful. Thanks to the Calvin Klein ads of the early '90s, Kate has had a tremendous exposure. Kate Moss can be credited for the "waif" comeback that supermodel Twiggy popularized in the '60s, by making skinny and frail the body an image that women always wanted. Even though endowed with that skinny look, Kate's popularity has ensured that her look became the "In Thing" for most women to emulate.

Lawyerly Attitude

Inflamed by rumours, in July 2005, Kate Moss sued the British tabloid "The Sunday Mirror" for "falsely claiming" that she had slipped into a cocaine-induced coma. Although she won the lawsuit, in September 2005, the British newspaper "The Daily Mirror" printed pictures of Kate sniffing cocaine. Since then, she fell in disrepute with leading houses and H&M, Chanel and Burberry Kate's contracts, leaving everyone wondering if the supermodel's career might be over.
